As kids most of us have been really curious to see how things are made. To see how products move from a design studio to the end of the production line and in to our lives. Thanks to the TV and internet, today we can get behind the scenes of how a lot of products are manufactured – right from a razor to an automobile.
However a blog, photo or video doesn’t always quite cut it for us atleast. We want closer interaction, deeper experiences and want to be part of the journey of products we love. So shouldn’t that be the case with our product, the S340 as well? It absolutely should. Reason why, we opened up our doors to enthusiasts and future owners of the S340 with Open House sessions.
Our first edition kicked off last week with 3 Open House sessions at our Bangalore office. We interacted with close to 100 + enthusiasts from Bangalore who had expressed pre-order interest on our website. We pulled out all the stops to share all the relevant product information with our invitees, even if it involved fighting with our legal team for consecutive nights :)
Checking out the evolution
It definitely paid off. The result was that we were not just us talking but showing what has been happening till now. We could now show and explain the evolution of the S340 from a not-so-beautiful-prototype to what it is today. The transformation of the battery pack to a leaner, cleaner and thermally efficient pack from what was a minimalistic casing earlier. What a spine cracking suspension test looks like. How lines of ride data can be visualized to beautiful art forms that can be interpreted better. And so much more. Sharing these gave us a high and we would like to believe that our guests shared the feeling too. As creators and consumers we would on any day love to be a part of any similar deep dive product session.

While we have kept answering queries through mails, blogs and other communities, nothing quite beats a freewheeling interaction. No wonder why a 20 min scheduled session extended to a two hour interaction. It would be stupid of us to not know everything about what we are building but every interaction has thrown up quite some interesting and unexpected questions. It was quite reassuring to have deeper interaction on queries ranging from sample rate to NVH to thermal efficiency. It loops back to our wish of all future owners having deeper understanding of the technology that goes into the S340.
What they liked & didn't
For us, this is just a start. We would love to host more of these session. While these sessions will continue, we are exploring more avenues to offer a hands on experience of the product or probably options to play around with the ride data. Both of these will mean squeezing out time from our product teams but it also means exciting new experiences for you to get hands on and learn more about the S340 and its possibilities.
So what next:
Are we doing more of these?
What about Chennai & Pune?
Yes. We are planning weekend sessions in both cities. If you have expressed your pre-order interest on the website or have been part of our long journey, you will be getting an invite in your inbox in the next couple of weeks.
So how do I get an invite?
Though we would love to host as many as possible, today we have limitations of resources and space. To start with these sessions are for enthusiasts who have expressed an interest to pre-order the S340 or have subscribed us.
But I missed out doing both
No worries. You can still express your pre-order interest here or subscriber to our newsletter in the footer of this page.
Do I get test-rides?
No. Open house is a purely interactive session. But since we can’t resist, we have offered a few of them a chance to be part of our internal test on a beta vehicle in Bangalore as and when internal schedules permit.
