Ather app deletion or deactivation

    • What is the procedure to deactivate my account?

      It’s a fairly simple procedure to deactivate your Ather account on the mobile application. You will need no more than 5 clicks to get this done. Of course, living with a smart scooter that is no longer smart will not be as simple.

      1. Open up your Ather mobile app and head to the ‘Profile’ section.

      2. Select the ‘Settings’ option.

      3. Go to the section titled ‘Manage Account’

      4. You’ll see a set of TnCs related to deactivation. Once you’ve read through them, just select the option to ‘Deactivate’

      5. Feel sad that somewhere, a group of Ather software engineers will be dropping everything they are doing to conduct a root cause analysis about why you’re deactivating your account.

      What is the process to delete my account?

      It’s a breezy process that requires no more than 5 clicks. But be warned, making your scooter less smart will not be a breezy experience at all.

      1. Open up your Ather mobile app and head to the ‘Profile’ section.

      2. Select the ‘Settings’ option.

      3. Go to the section titled ‘Manage Account’

      4. You’ll see a set of TnCs related to deactivation. Once you’ve read through them, just select the option to ‘Delete’

      5. Feel sad that somewhere, a product analyst will start crying while adding one more number to the ‘users deleted column’ during their next product metrics review.

      What platforms does this impact?

      The account deactivation and deletion requests are applicable to your Ather Energy mobile application only. Your scooter data is handled separately.

      What happens to my existing data?

      For deactivation, any data previously collected will remain, but no new data will be collected while your account is deactivated. For deletion, all previously collected data is erased.

      What information are you currently collecting and for what purpose?

      - We collect your user name, phone number, email address for identification and account safety. 

      - When permitted by you, your device location is collected to enable Ather Grid recommendations to help you navigate to and find your scooter, and to help plan your trips. 

      - Some data like your tyre pressure, if you have TPMS installed, and your riding history is sent to your app so that you can take calls on how to manage your tyre pressure and riding style for optimum experience on your Ather scooter. 

      What happens if I opt for account deactivation?

      - On deactivation and deletion of your account, we will stop collecting the aforementioned data, except data required for your identification. The app will revoke all permissions you granted it to access your device’s Bluetooth, Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Phone Storage, and SMS, which are required for you to use integral features of your smart scooter, such as sending location received on WhatsApp to the scooter, receiving calls and controlling media through your scooter dashboard, and uploading documents and saving locations which can be accessed on your scooter.

      - Some smart features on your scooter may be impacted, but you will be able to ride your Ather scooter as you did.

      I have an active Ather Connect subscription. What happens to that?

      If you have an ongoing Ather Connect subscription, it will continue to be active and expire as per its original deadline. You will be able to enjoy your Ather Connect features on the Ather App and your smart scooter when you reactivate your app account. For deleted accounts, the subscription will elapse. 

      I have some Ather Credits in my account? Will they expire?

      If you have Ather Credits, they will continue to remain valid and expire as per their original deadline. You will be able to enjoy your Ather Credits on the Ather App when you reactivate your app account. However, for deleted accounts the credits will elapse. 

      Note: Ather Credits expire after 180 days of account deactivation

      Can I still access customer support?

      Don’t worry! Even while you’re away, you will be able to access our Customer Support when in need. You can reach out to them on [email protected] or by calling +91 7676 600 900

      I have deactivated my account but wish to activate it again. What’s the procedure?

      Well, we’ll be happy to welcome you back! Just open your Ather App, use your login credentials and proceed with the next steps to have your account reactivated. 

      I have deleted my account but wish to activate it again. What’s the procedure?

      For deleted accounts, you will have to sign up again. 

      When can you not deactivate or delete your Ather app account? 

      Only when you have pending payment charges against the credits extended to you for charging on Ather Grids. You will be able to proceed once you clear the charge.
