Ather Electric Scooters

Introduction

India is witnessing a paradigm shift towards a sustainable, eco-friendly transportation solution with electric scooters. In 2023, over 15 lakh Indians purchased an electric scooter and in 2024, we’re about to see more electric scooters on the road. One of the biggest drivers of this cause is the various subsidies on electric scooters, initiated by the government of India to make the electric scooters more affordable and increase adoption. The most significant of them was the FAME subsidy for electric scooters until March 2024. From April 2024, subsidy is being offered under Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS).

What Is the subsidy for electric scooters in 2024?

As we enter a new financial year, the government of India has announced a new scheme to promote the adoption and purchase of two-wheeler electric scooters. The Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS), 2024 is effective from April 1st 2024 and will remain in effect for the next four months till July 2024. EMPS 2024, is the new subsidy on electric scooters that offers a max subsidy of ₹10,000 per two-wheeler electric scooter, or INR 5000 per kWh of battery capacity, whichever is lower. However, there is a quota system under EMPS. That is only 3,33,387 registered scooters before the end of July 2024 will qualify for financial assistance under the EMPS scheme.

The EMPS 2024 is designed to encourage more electric scooter purchases by reducing their cost. The EMPS 2024 coupled with more state-wise add-on subsidies, make your Ather electric scooter extremely pocket-friendly. If you’re looking to buy an Ather electric scooter, the EMPS 2024 is significantly going to reduce your purchase cost.
